Biography
Daniele De Naro was born in Florence in 1975. His inclination toward the visual arts appeared in childhood, revealing a natural sensitivity to form and drawing. At twenty-five he turned to oil painting on canvas, beginning a visceral and intimate journey with colour. After a long pause of personal and inner maturation, in which his bond with painting remained underground but never broken, the decisive turning point and his definitive artistic rebirth came in 2019 with his move to the heart of the Valdarno.
It is in this unique land, among the majestic natural architecture of the Balze eroded by time — which already fascinated Leonardo da Vinci — and the timeless calm of Tuscan lanes and farmhouses, that De Naro found his true expressive voice.
His work is marked by a rigorously contemplative and lyrical approach, deliberately excluding the human figure to raise the landscape to a mirror of the soul. Through a distinctive impasto technique carried out with a palette knife, oil colour is laid on thick, matter upon matter. Each stroke sculpts the light and captures the roughness of stone walls, the clay earth and the vibration of the air, turning the canvas into a three-dimensional surface whose appearance changes with the light in the room.
Although his exploration occasionally ranges across still lifes and seascapes, the beating heart of his work remains rural Tuscany: a land lived in, listened to and given back to the collector with quiet, elegant mastery.
